On The Cheap Travel
San Francisco: Once You’ve Arrived

From SFO:

San Francisco International Airport is a major hub and well-connected to public
transit. The subway (or
BART) will take you directly to the international terminal.
and there is a free shuttle from there if you have a domestic flight. It’s hard to beat
the great price (just over $5) and the frequent schedule.

Another option is the bus.
SamTrans has 24-hour service connecting SFO to San
Mateo County and parts of San Francisco and Palo Alto.

If public transit doesn’t work for you, consider a shared van. Prices are still
reasonable in the $14-16 range and you’ll be dropped off at the door. Click

see a list of shared van providers from SFO.

From OAK:

BART also connects to the Oakland airport via a regular stop (Coliseum/Oakland
Airport) and then a connection on the AirBART shuttle. The shuttle leaves every 10
minutes and drops off in front of Terminal 1 & 2 (Southwest Airlines). There is an
extra charge of $2 for adults to use AirBART (exact cash or ticket only), but it’s
just fifty cents for kids, seniors, etc. For more information, click here.

The public bus (Route 50) also makes a stop at the Coliseum/Oakland Airport
station and then you can catch AirBART from there.

From SJC:

Southwest uses San Jose Airport as a San Francisco area hub. Although you can
connect to BART and some other public transportation from here, it’s fairly difficult
with several transfers. Board Airport Flyer (VTA #10) at Airport. Exit at the Metro
Light Rail Station. Board Light Rail at Metro. Exit at Civic Center. Take the VTA
#180 Express Bus to Fremont Bart Station.

There are also shared vans that service the other major airports and downtown San
Francisco, but at a much steeper price ($59-79).
