Our Favorite Itineraries: Rome
 | | Wake up at the Beehive (20-30 euros) and enjoy a shower using the | | | handmade shampoo and soap supplied. Have breakfast of granola, fruit, and cappuccino at the organic cafe downstairs (3.70).

 | | Walk to Termini and take the Metro Red Line to the Vatican stop (1 euro).

 | | Pass through the Vatican gate, check your bags, and report to the | | | Excavations Office for the underground Scavi tour of the Vatican necropolis and St. Peter's tomb (10).

 | | Stroll over Antica Osteria da Giovanni for a relaxed lunch of pasta, salad, | | | and wine (7).
|
|
 | | After lunch, head back to St. Peter's Basilica. At this hour, the lines should | | | be minimal. Take your time admiring the Bernini-designed Vatican square, lined with massive buildings, pillars, and sculptures. Then tour the Basilica. If you luck out, you might catch singing during a mass.

 | | Walk over the river to Piazza Navona. You've earned a gelato from Da | | | Quinto, on Via Tore Millina.(2)

 | | Head over to the Pantheon, a few blocks away (free).
|

 | | After touring the Pantheon, wander the streets in the area, admiring the | | | architecture and the colorful stores near Piazza Navona.

 | | Have dinner at Baffetto on Via del Governo Vecchio, but remember to | | | arrive by 6:30 to avoid lines; otherwise go to Brek on Largo di Torre Argentina (10).

 | | Walk off dinner by heading to the metro stop at the Spanish Steps. You can | | | rest at the Trevi Fountain enroute (free).
|
|
 | | Take the red line back to the Beehive (1).
|
