Cheap New York City

Broadway Shows

New York is famous for theater. Although seeing Broadway shows is expensive,
they do not have to drain your wallet.
TKTS booths are a great way to get
discounted day of show tickets. Tickets are offered at 25%, 35% and 50% off the
face value, so you can expect to pay about $50.00 at the most, and that will be for
great seats. You can ask the sales people for the cheapest tickets available for the
show you want to see. Because there are different tickets available everyday you
never know what’s going to be available.

There are two locations, one in Times Square and one by South Street Seaport.
Get there early for the best selections of both Broadway and Off Broadway
shows. Visit the booth at South Street Seaport for shorter lines, the system is
computerized so both locations have the same offerings.

Another way to get affordable Broadway show tickets is to visit the show box
office early in the day. Ask about student rush tickets, also some theaters offer
standing room tickets or obstructed view tickets for a considerable discount. You
can also ask about ticket raffles. The hilarious musical Avenue Q holds daily raffles
for 12 front row seats for only $27.50 each. If you feel lucky it’s worth a shot!

Museums

New York has a number great museums, many of which offer student discounts on
admission. Many of these museums also offer free tours provided by volunteers.

are listed in the museum foyer. These tours typically last only an hour and are a
