London: Getting There On The Cheap

London is one of the easiest cities to fly into from anywhere in the world.  The
best deals can usually be found on the Internet, especially if you plan ahead.

Like most of Europe, the least expensive season to go is winter (except at the
holidays), followed by spring, fall and most expensively, summer. If you're flying
from the US, it is often cheaper to fly out of New York or Washington DC, using a
discount airline to get to those cities from your home airport. Be sure to factor in
taxes, transfer costs, etc when computing the cost of your flight. Try the following
strategies:

Subscribe to individual airline e-deals to learn of sales by email
Use a search site like Sidestep, Expedia or Farecast to compare.
Utilize affiliations like credit card miles, student status or clubs.
Travel agents and packages can still sometimes give you the best deals.

Depending on where you come from, your choices are air, bus, boat or Chunnel (train). All choices have pros and cons. We like to use a combination of methods
when jaunting across the continent, but almost always fly into London.

FLYING: From US: American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, British,
Virgin and Air India all fly into London. From inside Europe, check out Skyscanner
and
WhichBudget to see the airlines servicing London and the best deals for the day
you want.
