                                   London: Getting Into Town

London is served by 5 major airports, as well as bus terminals, train stations and
docks. Once you get to one of those places, the next trick is how to get to your
lodging quickly and inexpensively.

HEATHROW: The cheapest way is the Tube. The Piccadilly line (dark blue) runs
directly from Heathrow into downtown London and takes about 45 minutes. Price
is just under 4 pounds one way.

NOTE: It is imperative that you pack light for Tube travel. It is very difficult to lug
suitcases up and down the narrow stairways and turnstiles. Elevators are very hard
to find if not non-existent. Factor in the crowds and the less you have on you the
better.

Other options: National Express (bus, Heathrow to central London) approx. 10
pounds.
Heathrow Express (train, Heathrow to Paddington Station), 13.50 pounds.

STANSTED: Terravision offers low cost coach service from many of Europe's
airports, including Stansted. Choose from Stansted to Victoria (75 mins, 8.50
pounds) or Stansted to Liverpool (55 minutes, 7 pounds).

National Express (bus, to central London) approx. 10 pounds in advance.
Stansted Express train service operates from the airport to Liverpool St in London.
Departures are frequent and cost 15 pounds one way.

GATWICK: National Rail (airport to London Victoria and other central London
points, 9 pounds.)
National Express (bus service to central London, 10 pounds)
Gatwick Express (train service to London Victoria, 12 pounds)
