Hawaii: Once You've Arrived

If airport pick-up is not already arranged for you, there are a few options to get
going on the cheap.

Oahu:  TheBus is the cheapest way to and from the airport, and pretty much
anywhere on the island for that matter.   But, if you're carrying too much luggage,
they won't let you on.  You can also take an airport shuttle ($9 and up, depending
on your destination) or a taxi ($20-30 for Honolulu and Waikiki stops).
If you decide to rent a car, you can get very reasonable rates using
Priceline.
Consider the extra freedom, luggage space and mobility when deciding.

Maui:  Renting a car is probably the most cost-effective and time-saving option on
Maui.  Again, try
Priceline or watch for specials put on the rental car companies.
You can also try to get a package deal with car included.
There are shuttles and taxis available from the airport, but both options are quite
expensive.
SpeediShuttle ranges from $30-60 depending on your destinations and
the taxis start at $50 and work their way up.

Big Island:  For the airport at Hilo, your only choices are rent-a-car, hotel shuttle,
or taxi.  At Kona, you have the same choices plus
SpeediShuttle again.

Kauai:  Lihue airport is very small, although close to downtown.  There are
limousine, taxi and hotel shuttle services plus rental car desks and group tour
pickups.
