                          Budapest: Getting There

Budapest is becoming more and more popular, making it easier and cheaper to
fly into.  The best deals can usually be found on the Internet, especially if you plan
ahead.

Like most of Europe, the least expensive season to go is winter (except at the
holidays), followed by spring, fall and most expensively, summer.

If you're flying from the US, it is often cheaper to fly out of New York or
Washington DC, using a discount airline to get to those cities from your home
airport. We often find deals by piecing our own itinerary together by finding a
cheap flight to London and then connecting on
EasyJet or another of Europe's
discount airlines.  Be sure to factor in taxes, transfer costs, etc when computing the
cost of your flight. Try the following strategies:

Subscribe to individual airline e-deals to learn of sales by email

Use a search site like Sidestep, Farecast or Expedia to compare

Utilize affiliations like credit card miles, student status or clubs.

Travel agents and packages can still sometimes give you the best deals.

From inside Europe, check out
Skyscanner and WhichBudget to see the airlines servicing Budapest and the best deals for the day you want.

Depending on where you come from, your choices are air, bus, boat, or train. All choices have pros and
cons.  Check out your options on the
next page.
