| Budapest: Once You've Arrived Budapest is served by a major airport, as well as a bus terminal and 2 train stations (3 if you count the local-only one). Once you get to one of those places, the next trick is how to get to your lodging quickly and inexpensively. FERIHEGY AIRPORT: The cheapest option is to take the bus into the city center and then take the subway to the station you want. The bus costs 210 forints (approx 1 USD) and the subway cost will vary depending on the pass/ticket option you choose. Catch the blue airport bus (it has a plane on the front) outside the terminal going towards Kobanya/Kispest subway station. Again, packing light is critical with this option as the bus and underground are not conducive to lugging around lots of luggage. Another option: The Airport Minibus is a multi-passenger shuttle that will take you door to door for 2300 forints (about 11.50 USD) one way. We don't advise taking taxis from the airports due to numerous reports of dishonest or aggressive cab drivers. Arriving by TRAIN? Both Keleti and Nyugati train stations are located on the subway line. Simply walk below the stations to access the metro. Arriving by BUS? Nepliget train station is also located directly on the metro. Take the escalators down to the lowest level to find the platform. <<Budapest Home Next: Getting Around Town |
