On The Cheap Travel
                            Boston: Packing Light

Packing Light is important in Boston because you'll probably want to get
around via public transportation.  From the moment you arrive at the
airport, you can hop on the subway to be on your way.  The less you have to
lug around with you, the better.

One suitcase! Yes, you can do it.  One case and one carry-on (that  can
double as a day-pack) will make your trip so much more fun.

Rolling clothes while packing will help you fit more in.

Two pairs of shoes.  Make them comfortable, broken in and
      versatile.

Pick clothing that goes with at least two other items for your trip.

Try to pick lodging with laundry facilities if you'll be staying more than a week

Take travel size toiletries.  These items are expensive near tourist areas so be
sure to pack what you need.

Take along a set of silverware (or at the very least, a multifunction tool if you
can pack it in your checked luggage) to facilitate picnics in parks.

Pack a thin "micro-towel". Picking one in a dark color will let you
also use it a light blanket, cover-up, etc.  Bandannas also work.

Copies of any prescriptions, emergency numbers, etc.  Email
what you can to a web-based address such as Yahoo, Hotmail,
     etc.
